Advice is being offered to homeowners in Wrexham during the credt crunch from the town's Assembly Member, Lesley Griffiths.

She has has prepared a leaflet for homeowners with information on how to seek financial and practical assistance if they are facing problems paying their mortage.

The leaflet gives details of schemes available from a variety of agencies, along with hotline numbers and other contact information.

Lesley Griffiths said today: "These are very difficult times. However, there is great deal of help to be obtained from different sources to help homeowners in Wrexham, who maybe are facing financial problems at the moment.

"One example is the Welsh Assembly Government scheme which assists housing associations to buy a share of
housing to help homeowners who are struggling to pay their mortgage. This leaflet gives people the information on who to contact to find out more.

"Another example is that some mortgage lenders operate a scheme that enables homeowners to defer interest payments on their mortgage for up to two years, if they’ve experienced
significant and temporary loss of income.

"However, the key to securing this kind of help, is knowing where to look and that is why I have produced this handy leaflet.

"If anyone in the Wrexham constituency would like to receive a copy of 'Helping Wrexham Homeowners', please phone my office on 01978 355743 or email me at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to receive a copy."
